Expatriate workers part of country’s dev: Nurul Islam

Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam on Sunday said expatriate workers were making contributions to the country’s overall development through creating employment opportunities abroad and sending remittances.
Terming the expatriate workers as partners of development and successes of the government, the minister said the government under the directive from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has succeeded in sending a large number of workers in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Malaysia.
He was speaking as the chief guest while inaugurating ‘Labour Welfare Conference – 2018’ held at CIRDAP auditorium in the city, said a press release.
Secretary of the ministry Dr Nomita Halder presided over the programme while Additional Secretary M Aminul Islam, Director General of Wage Earners Welfare Board Gazi Mohammad Julhash, Director General of Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training M Selim Reza and Managing Director of Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited Maran Kumar Chakraborty were present, among others.
