Business Desk :
Helpless, jobless and poor migrant returnees will receive financial assistance through district and upazila administrations.
The disaster management and relief ministry gave a directive to deputy commissioners and upazila nirbahi officers on July 1 to this end.
The decision came upon a recommendation from an inter-ministerial meeting presided over by Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad on April 26.
The cash aid will be given as per the list made by the district manpower and employment office, read a press release issued by the expatriate welfare and overseas employment ministry on Sunday.
The returnees and their families who want to get assistance have been asked to contact the manpower and employment office in their respective districts. If there is no such office in a particular district, they can go to the technical training centre.
The expat returnees will get assistance from the social safety net and different other ongoing programmes, the press release added.
Detailed information can be found on the websites of the ministry (www.probashi.gov.bd) and the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (www.bmet.gov.bd).
