Staff Reporter :Naveed Mahbub, a resource person, has suggested the young university students to achieve the resource ‘social capital’ as well as to expand their social networks for exposing themselves and for building a bright future. “Take the opportunity of creating a strong social connection. It will come into effect someday or the other,” he asked the young change makers. Naveed Mahbub, former Chief Executive Officer of Nokia Siemens Networks Bangladesh Ltd, was addressing a workshop on “Networking: Building Career Connections” at the Ittefaq Bhaban, 1, R.K. Mission Road, Dhaka on Saturday afternoon. Manik Mia Foundation and Basic Rights Initiative (BRI) jointly arranged the function under the project “Youth Council: Workshop on Building Enlightened Society” with the aim of assisting the young change makers and future leaders of Bangladesh. Syed Tosharaf Ali, Secretary General of the Manik Mia Foundation, delivered the welcome speech in the workshop. Students of different universities joined the function of Naveed Mahbub’s special speech for career development. The students also took part in an answer-question session after the speech of the resource person. In his speech and the answer-question session, Naveed Mahbub touched different aspects of life and provided suggestions to the youths. After the function, several students told this reporter that Naveed Mahbub’s speech is impressive, inspiring and very helpful for developing the career. “It was a wonderful workshop. Naveed Mahbub’s speech was really impressive. He gave us many hopes. He touched upon different issues. We found important suggestions from him to build up bright future. Thanks the organizers for arranging such function,” said MA Sufian, a student of World University of Bangladesh, who took part in the function. In his hour-long speech, Naveed Mahbub asked the youth students, “If you want to shine your future, you have to expose yourself to others. Every of us is a product or service. If we want to provide us to consumers, we have to strengthen the marketing policy.” Discussing the marketing policy of the Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) and the BFC, he said that the fried chicken of KFC is famous than BFC’s fried chicken due to developed marketing policy of the KFC. Although the quality of BFC’s fried chicken is also good, they are behind the KFC, as the BFC’s marketing policy is short of requisite quality. He said, “Increase of the social networks and observation scale are very important for marketing yourselves, as you can’t expose you like a product. If you have a strong social capital, you can shine your future. You will be successful in life.”
