Exhibition of 21 young artists begins

The 21st Young Artists Art Exhibition began on Sunday at the auditorium of National Art Gallery of Shilpakala Academy. Cultural Affairs Minister Assaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the two-week exhibition as the chief guest.
This year, 787 artists took part in a competition with 1976 paintings. Judges selected 412 artworks of 380 artists to be exhibited finally.
A four-member selection committee comprised of artists Abdul Mannan, Bimanesh Chandra Biswas, Tarun Ghosh and Anisuzzaman selected the artworks, which are being displayed at the exhibition.
Alongside, eight awards in five categories- best young artist award, best painting award, best sculpture award, best print award and honourable mention award- were handed over at the inauguration ceremony of the exhibition.
The award-winning artworks were selected by a three-member jury comprised of artists KMA Quayum, Chandra Shekhar Dey and Saidul Islam.
The exhibition will remain open from11 am to 8 pmevery day and from3 pm to 8 pmonpublic holidays. The exhibition will be concluded onJuly 29.
The exhibition is being organised since 1975. Country’s prominent artists Zainul Abedin and Kamrul Hasan were present in the first exhibition.
