Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique demanded of brining the people involved with tortures on children to justice and award them exemplary punishment.
He made the demand while addressing a seminar on “Role of media to prevent child killing and social unrest” at RC Majumder Arts auditorium of Dhaka University on Thursday.
Referring to different incidents of tortures on children in recent times, the Vice-Chancellor said children are even tortured by parents and teachers which cannot be acceptable.
He underscored the need for building social resistance against the tortures on children to ensure their safety everywhere including family, school and playground.
He urged all including professionals and media men to come forward from their respective positions to ensure safety of children.
DU Television and Film Studies Department Chairman Professor AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan and Director of News of Ekattor Television Syed Ishtiaque Reza attended the seminar, among others, with Assistant Professor of DU Institute of Social Welfare and Research Towhidul Haque in the chair.
