Execution of war crimes trial verdicts demanded

Sector Commanders’ Forum Vice-President Maj Gen (Retd) KM Shafiullah said the freedom fighters would have to be united to ensure quick execution of the verdicts of war crimes trials.
He said this on Wednesday while speaking as chief guest at a function at Jatiya Press Club in the city to introduce Major (Retd) Wakar Hassan-Mohiuddin Ahmed panel contesting in the forthcoming elections to the Muktijoddha Sangsad.
Presided over by Major (Retd) Wakar Hasan, the function was attended by President of Bangladesh Economic Association and Chairman, Janata Bank Board of Directors Prof. Dr. Abul Barakat as special guest.
Muktijuddher Chetana Bastabayon Mancha General Secretary Abdul Malek Mian moderated the function, said a press release.
Elections to Muktijoddha Central Command Council and district and upazila commands will be held on June 4. The freedom fighters will directly elect their representatives through this election.
Forty-one candidates of Major (Retd) Wakar Hassan-Mohiuddin Ahmed were introduced and the panel’s manifesto was announced in the function.
On behalf of all freedom fighters, KM Shafiullah thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for holding trials of the war criminals.
He said the war trial verdicts would be executed quickly, if the freedom fighters remain united and active.
