Police on Friday arrested a former chairman of Kailati Union Parishad, suspecting him of being involved in the kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl.
Sohrab Hossain, son of Abdul Jabbar and resident of Darunbali village in Sadar Upazila, was arrested from Teribazarmor area in morning.
Quoting case statement, Officer-in-Charge of Netrakona Model Police Station Borhan Uddin said,
Police on Friday arrested a former chairman of Kailati Union Parishad, suspecting him of being involved in the kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl.
Sohrab Hossain, son of Abdul Jabbar and resident of Darunbali village in Sadar Upazila, was arrested from Teribazarmor area in morning.
Quoting case statement, Officer-in-Charge of Netrakona Model Police Station Borhan Uddin said,
Sohrab picked up 12-year-old Sumaiya Akhter on February 18 from the street from Satberikanda area.
A local saw Sohrab taking away the girl on his motorcycle and informed her father. Sumaiya’s family went to the ex-UP chairman’s house but could not find him.
When they called Sohrab over phone, he told them that he knew nothing about the girl. Sumaiya’s family filed a case with Netrakona Model Police on Thursday evening. Police said they were trying to rescue the girl within the shortest possible time.
