Moazzem Hossain, former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonagazi Model Police Station of Feni was sued yesterday with Dhaka Cyber Tribunal under the Digital Security Act and the tribunal accepted the case.
Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman filed the case on the charges of dilly-dallying in taking a case of Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi and recording her video statement at the police station.
Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge As-Shams Joglul Hossain passed the order, hearing the complaint on Monday afternoon.
The judge of the tribunal instructed an official of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), of the rank of Deputy Inspector General to investigate the case and submit the report by April 30. On April 10, the OC was withdrawn as Nusrat family’s alleged that they were not getting necessary cooperation from him.
Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa of Feni, was set on fire on April 6 allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against madrasa principal Siraj-Ud-Doula for sexually harassing her last month.
After fighting for her life for five days, Nusrat died at Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 10.
