Abdul Awal, former Religious Affairs Secretary and former secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad, died of kidney diseases yesterday morning at the United Hospital in the capital.
He was 81, family sources said. He left behind his wife, two sons, one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Body of the former secretary has been taken to his Banani residence. His namaj-e-janaza will be held at Banani Jame Mosque after Asr prayer. During the Liberation War in 1971, Abdul Awal was severely injured by the Pakistani military forces while performing his duty as the Deputy Commissioner of Patuakhali district.
