The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has cleared former Chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkhya (RAJUK) Nurul Huda of graft charges after his wife returned a plot he had allotted.
“After an inquiry, the anti-graft watchdog drops the allegations against the ex-chairman of RAJUK of corruption in plot distribution during his stint in the City Development Authorities,” said a letter signed by the ACC secretary Abu Mohammad Mostafa Kamal.
The letter has recently been circulated to inform the persons involved with the matter.
According to ACC officials, the commission earlier received allegations that the former chair of the city development authorities took a 10-katha land at Road 103 of Sector 9 in Purbachal in his name, while another RAJUK plot was allotted in his wife’s name.
As per RAJUK rules, if one gets a plot, his wife or any other family members will
not be eligible to get another one. Other than that, using his power illegally, Nurul Huda allotted the 15/B Residential Plot at Road 93 of Gulshan for commercial use.
He also illegally allotted a number of plots in Gulshan and Purbachal Project.
Allegations have it that Nurul Huda was financially benefitted by allotting the plots.
As the ACC began investigation against Nurul Huda, his wife applied to the authorities concerned, on a number of occasions, to give back her plot.
In her application, Wahida Huda claimed that as affected ones by the Purbachal Project, both of them are entitled to get plots in line with the existing rules and regulations of the RAJUK.
“Even after that, if any deviation of rules takes place through the allocation of plot against me, I am ready to return the plot once I am apprised of the details,” read the application.
