Dr Afzal Hossain, former Professor of English Department at Jahangirnagar University (JU), passed away at a hospital in the capital on Sunday night. He was 67.
Prof Hossain left behind wife, a daughter, relatives, well-wishers and a host of admirers to mourn his death.
Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university Prof Farzana Islam on Monday expressed profound shock at the death of the noted Prof Afzal Hossain.
In a condolence message, the VC said that his death is an irreparable loss for the country.
“He would be remembered for his outstanding research activities in the field of English literature,” she added.
Prof Farzana conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
