A Dhaka court on Tuesday sentenced a former police official to seven years’ imprisonment in a case filed for amassing illegal wealth.
Divisional Special Judge of Dhaka Syed Kamal Hossain handed down the order convicting sergeant Azhar Ali.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case against Azhar Ali with Ramna Model Police Station on February 27, 2012 for amassing illegal wealth amounting more than Taka 1.12 crore.
The ACC submitted the charge-sheet against Azhar Ali on June 14, 2105, and the court on March 16, 2016, framed charges against him.
