Ex-Pak Mujahid testifies against Bagerhat Razakar trio

A former member of Pakistan Mujahid force on Tuesday testified against the Razakar trio from Bagerhat, Sheikh Sirajul Haque alias Siraj Master, Khan Akram Hossain, and Abdul Latif Talukder. Sheikh Fozor Ahmed, 68, the former Mujahid member, submitted his deposition as the 12th prosecution witness (PW) at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1.
Fozor, who was posted in Bibir Bazar Check Post in Comilla in 1971, deserted along with 10 of his colleague as they came to know about the horrific attack carried out by Pakistani occupation army on Razarbagh Police Lines.
The witness, who used to give local youths arms training to free the motherland, corroborated the deposition of PW-11, accusing the trio for apprehending, confining, torturing and subsequently killing five innocent civilians in 1971.
The witness, who submitted his testimony in part yesterday, concluded his deposition today and was cross-examined by advocate Mohammad Abul Hasan, counsel for Siraj Master and Barrister M Sarwar Hossain, counsel for Akram and Latif.
After his cross-examination, the tribunal adjourned the hearing till today.
The ICT-1 issued warrant to arrest the trio on June 10, 2014, and Latif was nabbed by police on that very day. Akram was arrested on June 20 and Siraj on July 21.
The ICT-1 on November 5, 2014, indicted the trio and framed seven charges of crimes against humanity.
