Ex-MP Nizan, Nazim taken on fresh remand

A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed BNP’s two former lawmakers ABM Ashraf Uddin Nizan and Nazim Uddin Ahmed on a fresh remand for three days in a case filed with Motijheel Police Station filed for vandalism and torching vehicle.
Metropolitan Magistrate M Tasruzzaman passed the order after the hearing on the remand plea of the prosecution and the bail petitions of the former lawmakers. Sub-Inspector Mofizur Rahman of Motijheel Police Station produced the accused to the court with a ten-day remand plea for each. The court rejected the bail petitions.
Earlier on February 4, a team of Detective Branch (DB) arrested the BNP leaders when they went in Motijheel area to meet Kader Siddiqui. The following day, another court of Dhaka placed them on a five-day remand each in a case filed with Paltan Police Station for vandalism and attempt to murder a police sergeant.
