Police recovered the body of a former Joint Secretary who reportedly committed suicide on Thursday night.
Deceased Moshiur Rahman, 73, was a freedom fighter.
The body was recovered from Monowara Hospital at Moghbazar around 10pm on Thursday, said Kazi Mainul, Officer-in-Charge of Ramna police station.
Quoting his family, OC Mainul said that Moshiur was mentally sick with psychological issues. He hanged himself at home on the Ramna’s Siddheshwari Lane.
Police later sent the body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. “We are still in confused about the death. We will inform details after the autopsy,” the OC said.
Moshiur’s paternal home was from Sirajganj’s Belkuchi upazila. He retired from public service as a joint secretary in 2004.
