Unknown miscreants killed a local former leader of Juba League by slitting his throat at Dattapara village in Sadar upazila early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Rubel Hossain, a former general secretary of Ward No. 4 of Dattapara union unit of the youth front of the ruling Awami League and son of late Abul Khayer of the same village.
The deceased’s elder brother Bahar Uddin said miscreants called Rubel out of the house on Monday night.
They slaughtered Rubel and slit his throat to ensure his death and left the scene hurriedly.
Local people spotted the body on Tuesday morning and informed police.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Dattapara investigation centre in-charge Jamal Uddin confirmed the murder.
Rubel was wanted in several cases including for murder, police said.
A case was filed in this connection.
