Md Jahangir, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver, threw acid at his ex-wife and mother-in-law in their Chittagong city residence as retribution.
He confessed before a Chittagong court on Saturday, said court sources.
Quoting family members, Investigation Officer Md Ruhul Amin of Kotwali Police Station said Jahangir’s wife Sheli Akhter divorced him a year ago as he was a drug addict and used to torture her.
After the divorce, Jahangir often stalked Sheli. On September 26, Jahangir threw acid on Sheli and her mother while they were sleeping at their Polo Ground residence since he could not accept her decision, and fled the scene, said the IO.
Sheli filed a case with the police station afterwards.
