Ex-DG of PM’s Office Mahamudur passes away

Dr Mohammad Mahamudur Rahman, former Director General (DG) of the Prime Minister’s Office and valiant freedom fighter, died at Labaid Hospital in the city at around 5.34am on Saturday. He was 64.
According to family sources, Rahman had been suffering from various physical complications, including coronavirus.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, two sons and a host of relatives and admirers.
He was buried next to his parents’ grave in Patuakhali following a Namaz-e-Janaza after Asr prayers yesterday.
Rahman was the son of former president of Patuakhali district Awami League and former MP from Barguna-3 (Amtali) constituency, Mojibur Rahman Talukder.
Mahmudur Rahman was also the Private Secretary (PS) to Prime Minister’s former Political Advisers SA Malek and HT Imam.
He wrote books and columns under the pseudonym ‘Anu Mahmud’. Many of his books on Bangabandhu and economics have been published.
Expressing deep grief and sympathy over his death, various organizations including Barguna District Association and leaders of Awami League sent condolence messages.
