UNB, Dhaka :

BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed on Thursday warned that former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque will have to face trial for violating the Constitution by changing his first verdict on the 13th constitutional amendment after going on retirement.
Speaking at a discussion, he said Khairul Haque in his short order passed on May 10, 2011 stated that the next two general elections might be held under the caretaker government system. “But, he omitted this part in his full verdict given 16 months after his retirement.” “Through this verdict, Khairul Haque not only violated the constitution, but also exposed his serious immorality as a
judge. He did not only deceive his conscience, but also the entire nation to make a political gain. He must face trial someday for his grievous offence,” Moudud observed.
Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal, a platform of pro-BNP freedom fighters, arranged the programme at the Jatiya Press Club. Moudud, a BNP standing committee member, wondered as to how a Chief Justice can change his own judgement after going on retirement.
The BNP leader voiced frustration over the country’s current political situation, saying a vacuum has created in the country as there is no politics.
He accused the government of trying to harm BNP’s image by carrying out false propaganda against it. “But, BNP is the only party imbued with the Liberation War spirit.”
Mentioning that the government is trying g to eliminate BNP, Moudud warned that it is making a mistake with such a move. “Militancy and extremism will emerge if democratic forces are obliterated.” He also called upon BNP leader and activists to get united under the leadership of Khaleda Zia to restore democracy in Bangladesh.
