A case has been filed against 77 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamat-e-Islami, including BNP central leader and former MP Habibul Islam Habib, in connection with planning sabotage and explosion of crude bomb.
Kabir Hossain, sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station filed the case under the Explosive Substances Act on Friday night.
District BNP unit president Rahmatullah Palash and general secretary Tariqul Hasan were among the accused.
Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, said that around 80 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat gathered in the house of Tariqul in Pransayer Khal area in the afternoon for planning sabotage.
When police went there, the BNP men blasted crude bombs towards police, claimed the OC.
Later, police charged baton to disperse them.
Police arrested three people -Mawlana Obaidullah, president of Bhomra union Jamaat in Sadar upazila, Hafizur Rahman and Mohammad Ali-from the spot. Meanwhile, BNP district unit president Palash, who has been made an accused in the case, said that he has been staying in Dhaka before Eid.
