Police on early Friday arrested a former president of Chhatra League’s Bhola unit under the Digital Security Act for spreading false information about a private bank on Facebook.
Mostak Shahin was arrested from his Muslim Para residence around 1am. Contraband yaba pills were also seized from him. The bank authorities filed a complaint against him.
“He was spreading false information from his Facebook account that the National Bank was laundering Tk 20 crore to India,” said Enayet Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bhola Police Station. Police filed two cases against him under the Digital Security Act and Narcotics Control Act on Friday. He was accused in seven other cases.
