The Namaz-e-Janaza of former Attorney General K S Nabi was held on the Supreme Court premises in city after Zohr prayers on Monday.
Eminent jurists, senior lawyers, politicians and leaders of the Supreme Court Bar Association and Bangladesh Bar Council attended the Janaza.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, other judges of the Appellate Division, judges of the High Court Division, former Adviser to the Caretaker Government Barrister Mainul Hosein, Supreme Court Bar Association President
Advocate Zainul Abedin and Secretary Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Bangladesh Bar Council Chairman and Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Vice-Chairman Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun joined the Janaza, among others.
His second Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Dhanmondi Eidgah after Asr prayers. Then his body was taken to Banani graveyard for burial.
The body of K S Nabi was brought to the Supreme Court premises at 1:15 pm where he spent about 32 years practicing law.
After arrival of his body, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, Judges of both the divisions of the Supreme Court, senior lawyers and leaders of Supreme Court Bar Association and Bangladesh Bar Council paid last tributes to him.
K S Nabi breathed his last on July 8 at the age of 79 at his Dhanmondi residence in the city.
He was survived by his wife, two sons, one daughter and a host of well-wishers to mourn his death.
K S Nabi served as the 9th Attorney General of Bangladesh from 1996-1998.
Nabi was called to the bar at Lincoln’s Inn, London in 1961. He served as a faculty member of Central Law College in Dhaka. He was enrolled to Bangladesh Supreme Court in 1986.
He had also a political career as he joined Bangladesh Awami League before the Independence of Bangladesh. He served as Law Affair’s Secretary of the party in 1992.
In the Seventh National Parliamentary Elections in 1996, Nabi was a candidate of Bangladesh Awami League from the Munshiganj-1 constituency and lost to A Q M Badruddoza Chowdhury.
He served as the Chairman of the Bangladesh Bar Council during 1996-1998. Nabi was the only son of late Dr Kazi Wahidun Nabi.
