EWIS Information Systems Lanka, Sri Lanka’s first and only Original Device Manufacturer plans on venturing into the Bangladesh market in 2017 with their factory slated to open in 2017 in Dhaka.
EWIS Lanka Managing Director Sanjeewa Wickremenayake said the company has already begun construction of their Bangladesh plant, which is a US$ 2 million investment.
z_p-i-ewis-uEWIS will be partnering with the Summit Group of Bangladesh to help with their country’s ‘Digitalizing Bangladesh’ programme.
Wickremanayake said he was happy with their state of the art Original Device Manufacturing plant in Suriyawewa in Hambantota, which was opened in November 2013 taking this technology driven sector to the periphery with the opening. The factory has provided over 300 employment opportunities to the youth in the area.
The EWIS ODM plant is also Sri Lanka’s one and only factory that manufactures local IT products such as laptops, tablets and phones. EWIS works in partnership with Intel and Microsoft Sri Lanka.
The company’s partnership with TOS Lanka has seen it manufacturing its first motherboard for computer devices and accessories.
The Sooriyawewa plant caters to the computer and accessory demand for major conglomerates in the country as well as state sector institutions as well.
Wickremenayake said the company has partnered with the Moratuwa University to focus on its research and development activities.
