Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in the general election on a small scale, adding that it depends on the amendment to the Representation of the People Order (RPO).
He said it while talking to reporters after visiting the EC stall in the three-day development fair at Sylhet Alia Madrasah ground on Friday afternoon.
The fair that began on Thursday will be concluded on Saturday.
The CEC said EVMs are being showcased in the development fairs of 64 districts to raise awareness about their utility.
He urged the leaders of political parties to visit the EC stall to have knowledge about EVMs.
Asked when the schedule for the next general election will be announced, Nurul Huda said, no decision in this regard has been taken.
He expressed the hope that a free, fair and neutral election will be held with cooperation from all.
Token voting was also held using EVMs and the CEC announced the results after the polling.
Nurul Huda will stay here overnight and go to Sunamganj on Saturday.
