EC Kabita Khanom in Khulna: EVM training for election officers inaugurated

Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) system’s training for 759 election officers (Presiding officers, assistant presiding officers and polling officers) was started in Khulna since Friday noon which will be continued till December 26, 2018.
 Election Commissioner Begum Kabita Khanom inaugurated the training at Khulna Government Model School & College, located at Boyra area in the city.
The training for presiding officers and assistant officers were completed on Friday and training for polling officers was started on Saturday which will be continued till December 26, 2018
Sowmen Biswas Chhando, assistant Returning officer of Khulna-2 constituency said, 324 machines are ready to give training, 759 Election officers would be given training in Khulna-2 constituency, he added.
Election commissioner Kabita Khanom was present as chief guest at a view exchange meeting at 9 am at Hotel City Inn centering the upcoming 11th National Parliamentary election.
EC Kabita Khanom attended at a view exchange meeting with District Returning Officers, assistant Returning officers and officials of different Law enforcing agencies at the Conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) in the evening.
 Bangladesh Election Commission, UNDP and UN Women arranged a program which was held at a posh Hotel in the city on Friday noon while Election Commissioner Kabita Khanom was present and delivered speeches as chief guest.
EC Begum Kabita Khanom told that rights for giving vote of women and minority people must be assured for electing Public representative.
“We say about women empowerment, but women folk are still suffering from insecurity,” further said EC Kabita Khanom.
Regional Election Officer Md. Moibar Rahman presided over the meeting. Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Lokman Hossain Mia, Khulna Range DIG Md. Didar Ahmed, Acting Police Commissioner of KMP Sardar Rakibul Islam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) who is also the Returning Officer of Khulna Mohammad Helal Hossain, Superintendent of Khulna district police (SP) SM Shafiullah, UNDP’s advisor Etsuka Hirakawa, KU Teacer Prof. Hosne Ara and Khulna district Women affairs’ officer Nargis Fatema Zanin were present as special guests in the program.
Mentionable in this connection that at 720 polling booths of 157 polling centers of Khulna-2 Constituency, votes will be cast through EVM system during the imminent 11th National Parliamentary Election which is scheduled on December 30, 2018.
Voters of Khulna-2 constituency are 2,94,099, 1,46,714 are male and 1,47,385 are female voters.
