Eviction drives to remove illegal sites on Patenga beach to start soon

Special eviction drives to remove illegal structures on city’s Patenga beach and Parky beach of Anwara upazila of the district will start soon in order to protect beauty and attract tourists to the two major beaches.
The decision to launch drives came from a meeting of Chittagong Beach Management Committee (CBMC) with Deputy Commissioner, Chittagong Mejbah Uddin Ahmed in the chair on Monday. Chittagong DC in the first meeting of the CBMC said an executive magistrate would be deployed to check drug trading and ensure safety of the tourists of the two beaches. The meeting also decided to set up children’s park, install amusement rides, alarm people through hoisting red flags and using microphones about ebb and full tides, illuminate and renovate the beach areas, ensure safe drinking water and establish hotel and motel.
Additional deputy commissioner (general) Abul Hossain, and Anwara upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Farid Uddib and Anwara upazila chairman Towhidul Hoque Chowdhury, among others, were present in the meeting.
