Some miscreants attacked a team of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) during an eviction drive on Thursday at Buriganga riverbank in Keraniganj, injuring five including an executive magistrate.
The BIWTA team, led by Executive Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman, launched the drive in the morning.
According to AKM Arif Uddin , Joint Director of BIWTA Dhaka River Port, when the team tried to evict a sand quarry at Postogola along the Buriganga riverbank, a group of miscreants equipped with bamboo sticks attacked them.
Later, law enforcers went to the spot and arrested one of the miscreants named Bappi while the others managed to flee, he said.
