Eviction teams of Bangladesh Railway, east zone have evicted over 4100 makeshift shops, establishments and houses from CRB, Pahartali, Ambagan, Halishahor area and railway colony areas during the month long drive following the directives of BR authority, Divisonal Estate officer Mahbub Karim, said adding that drives will continue to recover more railway lands in the port city.
Bangladesh Railway (BR) in month long special drive evicted over 4,100 unauthorized establishments built in CRB, Pahartali, Ambagan, Halishahor area and railway colony areas in the city.
BR, East zone in their 33-day eviction drives against the illegal possession of railway land in the port city also recovered about 80 acres of land worth about Tk 1,000 crores. Mahbub Karim, Divisional State Officer of Bngladesh Railway Eastern Zone said.
The eviction campaign was launched from October 3.People who were living in the danger zones including slopes of hills have been evacuated.
Gold bars worth Tk 4 cr seized at Ctg Airport: Members of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized 70 gold bars worth about Taka 4 crore from a flight of Salam Airlines at Shah Amanat International Airport here yesterday morning.
On a tip-off, the officials recovered the gold bars, weighing 8.17 kg, from the toilets of the flight in an abandoned condition which came from Muscat of Oman at 11:45 am, said airport manager wing commander Sarwar-E- Zaman. Legal action is being taken according to the customs law, he added.
