A joint team of the Bangladesh Railway (BR) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) conducted a drive to evict illegal shops and establishments close to the rail tracks on both sides from city’s Kakoli to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Tuesday morning.
Hundreds of establishments have been removed. The eviction continued from 10:00am to 2:00pm, BR sources said.
It is worth to mention that illegal establishments were evicted from Malibagh to Khilgaon flyover and the Karwan Bazar Kitchen marked areas following a tragic train mishap that killed four persons on September 11.
Dhaka Railway Police Station’s Sub-Inspector (SI) Rafiqul Islam said that eviction drive would continue.
He said that any kind of illegal shops and structures would not be allowed close to rail tracks in the capital.
