Textiles and Jute Minister Mohammad Emaz Uddin Pramanik has said the government is relentlessly working to bring every house under electricity connection by next year for the development of rural economy.
“The government has stepped up various efforts in this regard to reach electricity to every house of the rural areas for the development of small and cottage industries for self reliance,” he told a function here on Friday.
He hoped that the people of this district will set up new small and cottage industries taking advantage of the electricity supply. The minister made the comments while inaugurating a newly installed electricity line in Manda upazila.
A total of 999 families of 23 villages in Manda upazila will be benefited under a project of Rural Electrification Board. The project is being implemented at a cost of Taka 2 crore.
With Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahnaz Akhtar in the chair, the inaugural function was also addressed, among others, by Manda Upazila Parishad Chairman Moulana Abdur Rashid, president of upazila unit of Awami League Emdadul Hoque Mollah and General Secretary SM Jashimuddin.
