Evercare Hospital Dhaka makes a landmark historical achievement with the nation’s first ever successful PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale) Device Closure on a young lady (age 27) with Cryptogenic Stroke (ischemic CVD). Carried out by a Bangladeshi consultant and his committed team on the 18th of October, this highly skilled procedure was mainly possible thanks to all the logistical support provided by Evercare Hospital Dhaka. And was followed by another successful procedure on a woman (age 37) on the 28th of the same month.
Brain strokes develop when brain tissue is deprived of blood supply. This stroke is said to be cryptogenic when the cause is unknown. According to scientific data, the most common cause for such cryptogenic stroke is caused by paradoxical embolism through a patent foramen ovale.
