BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir termed fabricated the audio clip of two BNP leaders’ conversations over Rajshahi bomb attack, saying that even the Prime Minister’s conversation with him can be generated using the technology.
Speaking at a discussion programme, he also alleged that the government carried out the crude bomb attack on their party mayoral candidate Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul’s ally in Rajshahi only to shift the blame on BNP.
“Now people are so much technologically savvy that it is possible to create an audio clip containing the conversation between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and me. It’s a very simple matter,” the BNP leader said.
Fakhrul came up with the remarks while speaking at a discussion programme arranged by National People’s Party (NPP) at the Jatiya Press Club, demanding BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release from jail and her better medical treatment.
He alleged that the government created the audio clip containing the conversation between BNP assistant office secretary Taiful Islam Tipu and the party’s Rajshahi unit leader Motiur Rahman Montu over the bomb blast in the election rally to mislead people. “We stay fearful before holding any programme because of blame game. They (govt) will hurl crude bombs on our rally and shift the blame onto us as the government is expert to indulge in such game,” the BNP secretary general said. Referring to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s allegation that BNP is resorting to blame game having failed to get response from people, he said, “We would like to say you’re indulging in the blame game to make political gains.” Fakhrul alleged that police raided BNP’s central office in 2013 and arrested the party’s 154 leaders after such game of hurling crude bomb at a rally of the party. He said, the government used to resort to lies to fool people. “But people are not fool as they understand everything.”
The BNP leader called upon people to get united to get rid of the current government’s misrule.
Fakhrul said the government has kept their party chairperson Khaleda Zia in jail unlawfully while the court is depriving her of getting her right to get bail. “People and we can see clearly that the apex court is also helping the government keep Khaleda Zia in jail.” He came down hard on the government for what he said repressing those involved in student movement seeking reform in quota system.
The BNP leader said though the Prime Minister and the ruling party leaders are trying to brand the demonstrators as anti-liberation force to thwart the anti-quota movement, people will not accept it.
