Evaly Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohammad Rassel was yesterday (Thursday) granted bail in nine cases filed over embezzlement of customers’ money.
“Evaly CEO Rassel got bail in nine fraud cases from different courts in Dhaka,” defense lawyer Ahsan Habib told the media. Rassel cannot walk out of jail as he is yet to get bail in some other cases, the lawyer added. However, the lawyer could not mention the number of other cases in which Rassel has to secure bail to get out of the jail.
On April 6, Evaly Chairman Shamima Nasrin walked out of Kashimpur Women’s Central Jail in Gazipur on bail after languishing over six months in jail in six cases filed in connection with similar allegations.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin during a raid at their residence in the capital’s Mohammadpur area on September 16 last year in an embezzlement case filed with Gulshan Police Station.
