Sports Reporter :European University of Bangladesh won the 8th Fair Play Cup beating State University of Bangladesh in the final match by 5 wickets at ULAB Play Cricket Ground, Mohammadpur in the city on Wednesday. State University of Bangladesh (SUB) won the toss and elected to bat first. SUB scored 150 runs by losing 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, European University of Bangladesh made 154 runs by 5 wickets. Nahid Newaz Noyon of European University of Bangladesh was adjudged the Man of the Match.In the closing ceremony, veteran cricketer and commentator Athar Ali Khan was present as the chief guest. Anujm Ahmed Jassy of ULAB was awarded the prize of the Man of the Tournament. Izal Ahmed of ULAB was given the prize of the Best Fielder of the Tournament. Ashraful Zahid of European University of Bangladesh was declared the Best Batsman of the Tournament and Nur E Alam Jannet of State University was awarded the prize of the Best Bowler of the Tournament. Kazi Inam Ahmed, Director, Bangladesh Cricket Board, ULAB Board of Trustees Member; Professor Imran Rahman, ULAB Vice-Chancellor Juditha Ohlmacher, ULAB Board of Trustees Members and Advisers, Communications and Student Affairs of ULAB also attended the match and handed out awards. A total of 16 universities participated in the cricket meet. They were: BRAC University, North South University, East West University, Northern University Bangladesh, United International University, State University of Bangladesh, Manarat International University, Independent University Bangladesh, University of Asia pacific, South East University, Eastern University, Green University of Bangladesh, Premier University of Chittagong, University of Information Technology and Sciences, European University of Bangladesh and host University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB).A total of 32 matches were held in the tournament. The entire tournament was in T20 format and the 16 teams were divided into 4 groups. This year the champions received BDT 40,000 and the runners-up received BDT 25,000 as prize money by the ULAB authority.
