The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Tuesday directed the investigation officer of a case filed against Ekushey Television (ETV) Chairman Abdus Salam to interrogate him at the jail gate in the case.
Magistrate Sabrina Ali passed the order after Investigation Officer (IO) Shakhawat Hossain produced Abdus Salam in his court with a five-day remand plea. The court also asked to interrogate on five working days.
The court rejected Salam’s bail petition and prosecution’s remand pleas in the case lodged under the Women and Children
Repression Prevention Act and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act with the Cantonment Police Station.
On January 6, Detective Branch of Police arrested Abdus Salam in a case filed for telecasting an alleged false report. He was arrested in a case filed against him with Cantonment Police Station for telecasting a false report about a girl in a programme named ‘Ekusher Chokh’.
