Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif said although members of ethnic minority groups are neglected elsewhere in the world, they are enjoying all sorts of state facilities in Bangladesh.
“Government of Sheikh Hasina has made sure these facilities for ethnic minority groups,” he said.
The minister said this on Saturday while handing over checks of financial donation to the members of minority groups and people living under poverty line in Ishwardi upazila in Pabna.
Organized by Department of Social Services (DSS) of Ishwardi, the function was addressed by upazila nirbahi officer Sanowar Hossain, deputy director of Pabna DSS Abed Karim, Mokhlechur Rahman Mintu, Mahjebin Shirin Pia, Chana Sarder, Abdul Kader, among others.
A total of 51 people from ethnic minority groups were given Taka five thousand each. Twelve other distressed people were also given monetary aid from the function.
