The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Assurances on Wednesday recommended establishing environment department’s office in all districts of the country and solve the ongoing human resources problem of Environment and Forest Ministry to accelerate the activities of the ministry.
The committee also called upon the environment and forest ministry to ensure speedy and transparent management to make effective and successful the present government efforts by implementing the programmes for creating awareness on environment in the present world.
The committee made the recommendation at its 22nd meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with its chairman Kazi Keramat Ali in the chair.
Committee members Advocate Rahamat Ali, Whip M Shahiduzzaman Sarkar, A K M Shahjahan Kamal and Mir Mostak Ahmed Rabi attended the meeting.
The committee also recommended ensuring of punishment and fine against the illegal felling of trees and timber stealing from all forests across the country including Madhupur and Bhawal Garh.
The Committee reviewed progress in the implementation of different projects under the Environment and Forest Ministry by Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation division.
