Legislator of Patenga-Bandar constituency in Chittagong MA Latif has taken initiatives to sell the essential commodities during the holy Ramzan at a very nominal price for the poor and distressed people in his constituency from yesterday through mobile makeshift shops.
Mentionable that MA Latif MP started this system for the poor since his tenure of legislator in this constituency from 2009.
Personal secretary of the legislator told the media that this selling centres have been setup in 150 places of 10 wards of his constituency from Thursday.
Sources said this subsidized commodities arranged from his own personal fund and these commodities were purchased from Chittagong wholesale markets with market price. Beneficiaries sources said best quality of chola, sugar, rice, salt, potato , are being sold at Tk.40, Tk.25, Tk.15, Tk.5, Tk.10 per kg respectively. A resident of the area may procure highest 5kg rice, 2 kg sugar, 2 kg chola, 2 kg salt and 3 kg potato with subsidized rate .
Meanwhile Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and the Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce also introduced selling of essential commodities with subsidized rate from beginning of Holy Ramzan.
