The government has taken a programme to prepare an error-free modern digital database on genuine freedom fighters, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque told Parliament on Sunday.
“Original certificates with nine security barcodes will be given to freedom fighters once the database process is completed,” he said.
The minister said this while responding to a tabled starred question from M Nurul Islam Sujon (Panchagarh-2) in the House.
He hoped that the nation would get an error-free list of freedom fighters with the
completion of the database. “Work on the programme is going on at a faster pace.”
Mozammel Haque said the government has increased by four times the allowances for the freedom fighters since 2009 as the amount now stands at Tk 5,000 which was Tk 900 earlier.
“And the number of beneficiaries has been increased to 2, 00, 000 from 1,00,000,” he added.
