Flood situation improves: Erosion renders 412 families homeless in Kurigram

Flood situation has improved in Kurigram but after receding of flood water river erosion is going on in some parts of the district.
Some 412 families were rendered homeless in the erosion of the river Brahmaputra and Dharla within a week.
Executive Engineer of Kurigram Water Development Board(WDB) Mostafizur Rahman told that the water from upstream and heavy rainfall flooded which has been improved. Vegetables, jute fields and Aman seedlings have been damaged.
Fishes of many ponds and water bodies washed away.
Chairman of Hatia UP under Ulipur Upazila Abul Hossain told that about 250 families have been rendered homeless with a week here. Of them Gujimari village is going to erase from the map. Some 155 families in the village became homeless by the river hit. Dagarkuti Govt.
 Primary school is also facing river erosion threat .
 About 35 families of Babur char,20 families in Nayadara and 45 families rendered homeless in char Gujimari village.Meanwhile Gujimari Govt. Primary School eroded by the river Brahmaputra.
Chairman of Begamganj union Hasan Abdur Rahim Millah said 30 families in Al Amin Bazar,25 families in Khudirkuti,11families in Akkel Mamud and 20 families in Kabirajpara village became homeless. Chairman of Jatrapur union said some 72 families became homeless within the last one week.
Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Khan Md. Nurul Amin said we have all preparation to face any disaster clamity. We got sufficient allotment.
Meanwhile some 8,449 MT rice have been allocated through VGF card which will be distributed before Eid.
