Erosion- hit people of Charbagdanga Union under Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila formed human chain in front of the UP on Saturday demanding immediate measures for protecting the area from the erosion of the river Padma.
The human chain was formed under the banner of Charanchal Sadharan Janata Parishad. During the hour long human chain, Nurul Islam Master, ward members Hossain Ali and Jamal Uddin, Rafiqul Islam Master, Matiur Rahman Master, Bulbul Master, Obaidur Rahman and Saharul Islam spoke to the gathering.
The speakers said that serious erosion has been devouring vast areas of Goaldubi, Roadpara and Kayapara villages in the union causing huge loss of residences and landed property of the people.
They demanded immediate measures to protect the areas from the erosion of the river.
