ERL to start installation of second unit

The process to set up second unit of the Eastern Refinery Limited (ERL) at Chittagong the state owned lone oil refinery of the country which was started from July last is continuing.
The design of the new plant of ERL will be completed next month. Tecnip of France is working to complete the design. The officials hoped that design of the new plant of ERL will be completed within October this year. Besides, Bangladesh government started developing acquired land for the project.
Sayed Mohammed Mojammel Haque, Director (Planning) of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC), after completing the new project, the power to produce fuels of ERL will be increased. The ERL will refine more 30 lakh MT fuel.
Meanwhile, the secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resource Ministry Nazim Uddin Chowdhury visited the site of the second unit of ERL recently. Sources said, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has signed agreement with Tecnip of France for design of the new plant.
The ERL which is the sister concern of BPC held a signing ceremony on April 19 last year at its factory office at Patenga in Chittagong. Bangladesh signed agreement named “Project Management Consultant” with Engineers India Limited (EIL) for supervision of the construction of second unit of ERL at Patenga.
 Executive Director (Marketing) of EIL Upendra Moheshweri and Director (Operation) of BPC Moslem Uddin signed the agreement on behalf of India and Bangladesh.
