A Dhaka court yesterday relieved Erfan Salim, son of Dhaka-7 lawmaker Haji Salim in an arms case.
Judge of Special Tribunal KM Imrul Kayes gave the relief accepting the police report on Thursday.
Inspector (Operation) of Chawkbazar Police Station Muhammad Delwar Hossain who is also Investigation Officer of the arms case, submitted the probe report, recommending relief of Erfan Selim in the case.
In their final report, Chawkbazar police said they did not find evidence to prove the charges against Erfan in two cases filed under the narcotics control and arms acts. The IO also appealed to the court to discharge Erfan from the cases.
Erfan was arrested after a case was filed against him on charge of “attacking” Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan of Bangladesh Navy in the Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area on October 25 last year.
However, Erfan is still behind the bar as he has been facing other cases including the case filed against him by the naval officer on the charge “attacking” him in the capital’s Dhanmondi area on October 25 last year.
