Chittagong City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin yesterday sought the list of illegal commercial establishments erected in the residential areas including Khulshi and Nasirabad, in the city.
The mayor asked the chief engineer of Chittagong Development Authority to give him the list of illegal commercial establishments erected in residential areas as soon as possible.
He warned that erectors of illegal commercial structures in the residential areas in the city would not be spared in the public interest.
The mayor came up with the warning while exchanging views with the head of 21 stake holders in the port city in the coordination meeting, held at the city corporation.
Speaking at the coordination meeting Nasir said illegal commercial establishments must be removed from residential areas, otherwise legal actions would be taken against them.
“The ward based eviction drive will start after receiving the list of illegal commercial establishments in residential areas,” he added. The city Mayor also requests the Chittagong Metropolitan Police to take stern action against the drug traders in the city.
Chairman of Chittagong Port authority Rear Admiral Khaled Iqbal, Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mezbah Uddin, Azadur Rahman Mollick, director of Chittagong Directorate of Environment, additional chief engineer of roads and high way Bidhan Chandra Dhor, among other representatives of different stake holders were present in the meeting.
