2-day IIUC Confce ends today: Eradication of poverty stressed

State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan MP said, it is possible to eradicate poverty to a great extent, adding that the present government is committed to eliminate the poverty and street begging and to increase the living standard of the citizens.
He also stressed the role of the NGOs also in this respect. The minister said it while addressing the inaugural session of the international conference on” Development of Social Enterprise and Social Business for Eradication of Extreme Poverty and Street Begging” on the permanent campus of the International Islamic University, Chittagong at Kumira in Chittagong yesterday (Friday) morning as the chief guest.

Prof. Dr. Abu Bakkr Rafique delivered the address of welcome in it. Among others, Member-Secretary of IIUCIC-7 Prof Dr. Farid A Sobhani, Acting Chairman of the IIUC Trust Prof. Ahsanullah Bhuiya, Director of Muslim Aid Md Dewan al Ehsan, and Prof. Dr. Zulkiple Ghani of Malaysia spoke on the occasion.
State Governor of Kano State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr. Robi’u Musa Kwankwaso addressed the inaugural session as the guest of honour. Vice-Chancellor of IIUC Prof. Dr. AKM Azharul Islam presided at the inaugural session of the IIUCIC-7 and concluded the inaugural session of the conference through facilitating the distinguished guests from home and abroad, scholars, organizers, corporate associates and media partners. He also thanked the Nigerian and Malaysian participants in the conference.
About 350 participants from nine countries including Bangladesh are taking part in the conference. About 10 research papers about the significance of theme of the conference were presented for discussions, sources said. . The key-note were papers were read out in the 7th international conference by Prof. Dr. Roslan Abdul Hamid of Malaysia, Prof. Dr. Rafiqul Islam Mollah, Academic Advisor, IIUC, Dr. Giasuddin Ahmed , professor of Verginia State University, USA, Prof. Dr. Zilkifal Abd Goni, Dean of Malaysia .
The conference is being organised by the initiative of Centre for Research and Publication(CRP) of International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) in association with the Kano State Government of Nigeria, University Sains Islam Malaysia, University Technology MARA Malaysia, Muslim Aid UK, and Abul Khair Group of Chittagong. The corporate associates of the conference are Centre for Zakat Management and Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought, Dhaka. The Media partners of the conference are Dainik Samakal, The New Nation and Dainik Naya Diganta. The concluding session of the IIUCIC-7 will be held today at city posh hotel, sources said.
