Terming poverty as the root cause of child trafficking in the country, speakers at a programme called for addressing poverty for combating the trafficking.
Generally, children from poor families fall victim to the trafficking due to their vulnerability. If steps are not taken to address poverty, it would be tough to combat the crime, they observed.
Stressing on child responsive protection and care, they urged all stakeholders to come forward in this regard, because it would be tough for the government to handle the issue alone.
If steps are not taken for preventing child trafficking, all the achievements of Bangladesh would be meaningless, they observed, adding that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure security to all the people.
