Eradication of repression and torture on the children in the educational institutions and anywhere else would enable them in flourishing talents to become the worthy citizens in future. The views were expressed at the inaugural ceremony of a 10-day workshop on ‘Enhancing Capacities to Eradicate Child Repression’ organised by Centre for Services and Information on Disability (CSID) at the Training Centre of ‘Dristi Sangstha’ in Rangpur on Thursday.
Teachers of different educational institutions, including the institutions involved with educating the children with special needs, guardians and members of school governing and managing committees have been participating in the workshop.
Executive Director of ‘Dristi Sangstha’ Ashik Iqbal formally inaugurated the workshop in the ceremony as the chief guest with District Coordinator of CSID Laila Abbasi Shapla in the chair.
Community Facilitator of CSID and Sign Language Expert Roksana Begum was present as the special guest.
The workshop is being organised with assistance of the ‘Dristi Sangstha’ to enhance capacities of the participants and create proper awareness among them in eradicating all sorts of repression and torture on the children.
A number of students from different educational institutions also addressed the workshop expressing their feelings and views about how they want to get education in a very congenial and friendly atmosphere in their institutions.
Laila Abbasi Shapla said the concerned authorities should create child-friendly and congenial atmosphere everywhere for the children who always want love, affection and care but not tortures in any form in the educational institutions and anywhere.
“We want our children to become the worthy, properly educated and healthy citizens and we, the senior citizens, still remember the memorable moments of our child ages in the educational institutions,” she said.
The chief guest stressed on comprehensive GO-NGO cooperation to eradicate repression and tortures on the children and called upon all concerned stakeholders for playing their due roles in achieving success towards the directions.
