To protect the rights of the ethnic minority and marginalised peoples, a new group ‘Equal Rights Organisation’ was launched at Rajshahi University on Friday.
RU Folklore Department assistant Professor Amirul Islam Kanak declared the 25-member executive committee at the inaugural ceremony at the university’s Rabindra Arts building at 11:30 am, reports UNB.
Raj Kiron Das, a third-year student of Mass Communication and Journalism department, has been made the president while and Anamika Saha Nupur, a second-year student of Folklore department, as general secretary.
The others office bearers are: Vice presidents Zilani Ansari of Applied Physics and Electronic Engineering department and Suroty Singh Swapna of Mass Communication and Journalism Department, assistant general secretaries Shimontini Sampa of Anthropology department and Rony Devnath of Clinical Psychology department, Treasurer Anup Suttrodhor of Clinical Psychology, Publicity and Publication Secretary Sajib Biswas of Information Science and Library Management department, and Sports Secretary Ripon Chandra Haldar of Philosophy department.
Besides, Professor Biswanath Sikdar of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology department, among others was present at the inaugural ceremony.
