Equal opportunities for boys, girls emphasised

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki called for giving equal opportunities to boy and girl children so that they can contribute equally to the national development.
She made the call on Saturday while speaking as the chief guest at a reception to meritorious students and mothers’ rally organised by Kaliganj Upazila Council.
The state minister stressed the need for creating awareness among the mothers for expansion of education.
“The children of today would lead the nation in future,” she said and
called for ensuring equal opportunities to male and female children. She said
the Awami League government has brought women into the mainstream of
development.
The contribution of women to the escalation of per capita income in
Bangladesh is undeniable, she added.
Held at the upazila council complex, the function was presided over by
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M Maniruzzaman.
Deputy Commissioner M Nurul Islam, Upazila Council Chairman M Moazzem
Hossain, District Primary Education Officer Mohammad Mofazzal Hossain and
District Education Officer Sahida Begum Nazma were present at the function,
among others.
