Speakers at two separate ceremonies have said Bangladesh has achieved an epoch-making progress in increasing power generation capacity. President of Panchagarh district Awami League (AL) Advocate Nurul Islam Shujan, MP, inaugurated the power supply lines to four villages at two separate functions in Boda upazila of Panchagarh on Monday.
With this, 158 residential houses came under electricity supply in villages Jyotmoyram and Munshipara under Chandanbari union and Menagram and Daluapara under Panchpeer union of the upazila.
Thakurgaon Polli Bidyut Samity of the Rural Electrification Board (REB) implemented the work of power supply lines in the area.
President of Chandanbari Union AL Nazrul Islam presided over the launching ceremonies.
The upazila level government officials, officials of REB, hundreds of local people including farmers, civil society members, professionals, teachers, students, youths and local elites were present.
General Manager of Thakurgaon Polli Bidyut Samity of REB Abdul Khaleque, General Secretary of Boda Upazila AL Faruk Alam Toby, its Joint Secretary Rabiul Aslam, addressed the functions among others.
The speakers said the nation has already achieved laudable success in generating power following effective steps taken by the present government during the last six and a half years.
The chief guest suggested common villagers for sincerely using power, utilisation of energy saving bulbs and digital meters, timely payment of electricity bills, less power consumption during peak hours, preventing illegal power connections to save electricity.
He congratulated the local people and asked the authorities, officials and employees concerned to ensure excellent management in power supply systems.
